I have to say from what I noticed and observe is that Avast is much faster then Kaspersky. The differences fromwhat I noticed between them is the way how they scan your computer, the first time that I installed Avast, I restarted my
computer, obviously. On the reboot of my computer it did a full system scan, took a little longer than I wanted, but on the plus side if there were any viruses on the computer it would not hinder the results because it was outside windows. Another difference is that Avast is a “live” scanner basically what that means is that it scans everything live, so you don’t have to schedual a scan every week and what not, it is like Kaspersky’s proactive defense. I opened up Microsoft Outlook for the first time in a long time (It holds my old email address). I believe that I had around the neighborhood of 5,700 messages. When outlook started to download them I noticed that the little “a” in the task bar was going crazy because of all the messages it was scanning. About halfway through it, I heard this alarm sound, the sound reminded me of like a sinking ship alarm. The a voice said “A Virus was detected,” then a dialog box popped up if I wanted to delete it or quarnten the infected message, I obviously deleted it, this happened multible times so I learned the short cut for deleting was “D” then “E,” I believe. The ads are also starting to get annoying but its life with a free product. Possibly more to come soon.
