Its funny how the actual phone was leaked, seems a little “fishy,” at least to me. Apple has been known to do some weird things in the passed that might get one of their products “leaked” to the media. The design of the phone seems like it might be more sturdy, the buttons on the site look to be more spread apart for easier use. It is also much skinnier and ’supposedly’ a little bit of a smaller screen, the better it would fit into a pocket. A draw back that I observed is that it is more ‘boxy’ and less corners, what first came into my head is “Will this feel natural in my hand having sharper edges.” Even to begin with all the other iPhone’s don’t feel “natural” in your hand this just may make it worse, but there aren’t any smart phones on the market today, that comes to mind that will ‘feel good’ in your hands. Hardware on the phone seems to be improved, rumored that the A4 chip is powering the new phone (same chip powering the iPad). The components size have all decreased to fit the new body style, except the battery which looks huge (hopefully more battery life!!!). Most people are happy to see a front facing camera. I’m not 100% sure how the markets and business will embrace this technology, but its pretty certain that you will be able to do conference calls with video, Skype is going to be happy about this one. I can imagine sitting on a plane or backseat of a car talking to a group of people in a meeting that I couldn’t make. Even taking pictures of yourself will be so much easier, obviously. I have not heard anything on the memory of if there is any increases in that department, hopefully there is with the new iPhone OS 4 that is soon to be released. That brings me to my last topic, software. iPhone OS 4 is going to be awesome, but for the current versions of the iPhone (3G & 3GS), I think they may be to slow for multitasking and running more than 1 game at a time, granted the technology is still there. The 4th Gen. I think is going to handle it fairly well, if not better than expected. We also will FINALLY get to put a background on our home screen, I am sick of looking that the black behind the icons. I thought it was coming with the capability for backgrounds after the iPad had a way to change the background (without jail breaking it). That is what I believe to be the important items to be released on the new iPhone and OS 4

I have rented a dedicated through The Planet and have had it for almost about a year. The experience I have is great. The support that I received was better than I previously anticipated before I bought my dedicated server. On the price side of things, I believe that The Planet is on the higher end of the spectrum, but they make up for it, with uptime and quality. I have had to this date 0 crashes. I had a few DNS issues which the support was easily able to figure out the issue and fix it. If you get the software through The Planet, like CPanel, they are more than happy to help if issues arrise. If you install software yourself they aren’t as enthused to help you unless you pay a hefty fee. There is something to say about having complete control over your website/server, you do not have to worry about over selling, you know exactly what is on it. To sum up, The Planet has great support, great hardware, great software which they back up. I suggest them to anyone, it is worth the extra “green.” I will give a review of my experience with The Planet’s Cloud Servers (VDS) in the coming days.

Microsoft Security Essentials, I have been testing this new piece of software for I believe almost a week now. I was a little apprehensive about downloading it because that it is free, and how good can a FREE anti-virus be? My experience that I have encountered with the software is great. The ease of use is phenomenal, very few buttons, the GUI looks bright and happy, unlike avast. Scanning through your files for the first time was rather slow, It took around 1 – 2 hours for 200 GB’s worth of data. After the first time a few days later I scanned my computer again and it was 15-30 min. I have not encountered a virus with the software yet, so I’m not sure how it will react. From all the other reviews that I have read on it, it sounds that it is a good product and directly competes with Kaspersky, Trend, Nortan, etc. Sense it is free, I would almost recommend the others. Another big positive is that the resources that this product uses is minimal, even when scanning I could play games and search the web like the scan isn’t even running. I wish I could tell how accurate and thorough the scan is.

My first impressions of the Nexus One looks cool. The software looks fun to play with, honestly a lot more fun than my IPhone, I was talking to my one my friends and we were talking about the phone, couldn’t Android come at a price because of the open source operating system, more viruses? Compared to the IPhone which is so closed down, which sucks to a point but, I don’t have to worry about viruses. One of the things that will not make me get the phone is the absence of multi-touch. From what I read elsewhere it has the capabilities but it does not have the software supporting it, which I’m guessing is just because of how many patents Apple has on that technology. On The Nexus One, the size is amazing, looks a lot sleeker than other phones on the markets. One thing that is going to take time and a lot of effort on Google’s side is to get this product main stream. I was looking for cars and some luxury car makers (ex Lexus and Infiniti), have awesome integrated features that you can do with bluetooth and the IPhone, wirelessly play your music from your IPhone to your car, I tried this technology out on an Infiniti FX, it worked awesome, phone in my poket playing music to my car. No more having to have an IPod in my car anymore. That is just going to have to take time as the Market Share changes and be less dominate with the IPhone. Right Now either the IPhone or the Nexus One are great phones it all depends on the person. I can not see why anyone would a BlackBerry anymore, the storm sucks. Any comments or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I have to say from what I noticed and observe is that Avast is much faster then Kaspersky. The differences fromwhat I noticed between them is the way how they scan your computer, the first time that I installed Avast, I restarted my computer, obviously. On the reboot of my computer it did a full system scan, took a little longer than I wanted, but on the plus side if there were any viruses on the computer it would not hinder the results because it was outside windows. Another difference is that Avast is a “live” scanner basically what that means is that it scans everything live, so you don’t have to schedual a scan every week and what not, it is like Kaspersky’s proactive defense. I opened up Microsoft Outlook for the first time in a long time (It holds my old email address). I believe that I had around the neighborhood of 5,700 messages. When outlook started to download them I noticed that the little “a” in the task bar was going crazy because of all the messages it was scanning. About halfway through it, I heard this alarm sound, the sound reminded me of like a sinking ship alarm. The a voice said “A Virus was detected,” then a dialog box popped up if I wanted to delete it or quarnten the infected message, I obviously deleted it, this happened multible times so I learned the short cut for deleting was “D” then “E,” I believe. The ads are also starting to get annoying but its life with a free product. Possibly more to come soon.

I think that the next step for me is to try Avast, I talked to a co-worker and he says that it is the best this year, after a bit a research that I have done . I do see that it is one of the best, what is crazy is that it is free. Kaspersky was great, seemed to slow down my computer more then I would like but, really what can I ask for because any anti-virus program is going to slow down your computer. Possibly I will pay for it to get the “full” version then give a review on it.

Granted it is still in Beta 1, but it just doesn’t seems to be good at anything. If people want to have conference, they could just use Skype or any other programs along that line. The only positive I see to it is sharing pictures. What I could see in the future for Google Wave is possibly if you are wanting to show a power point, part of the browser somewhat is like remote view, were you can see the power point and the presenter typing or talking to the participants. More to come later…..

Microsoft Office 2010, I installed it on a computer at work it is running Intel 1.80GHz, 512 MB of DDR2, Windows XP. My first impressions of the software is that it seems that it is running faster. When I talked to a co-worker last night at the Geek Squad he stated that because of the animation before it launches each individual program, that it seems faster but in actuality, it is not. After the program opens, it reminds you of Office 2007 with the ribbon layout. When I just started to typing in Word it seemed to be keeping up with me fairly well, even was I was just clicking keys as fast as I possibly could. Another awesome addition that I saw in Word is how easy it is to encrypt something. All you have to do is go to fine which is a drop down menu and under info is permissions and you can encrypt with a password. When you close the document then reopen it, it will obviously ask for the password that you put. So much easier then the previous versions of office that I have noticed. The colors are not blue like they were in 2007, it is an off white, which doesn’t bother me at all nor does it matter one way or the other. I have not noticed any bugs “yet” either. Most of the default settings that you saw from Office 2007 are the same in 2010 like Calibri (Body) as the default font. The more I play with it, I will be posting more.
